Assist with all packaging and cellaring operations
Hi Sign Brewing is an independent craft brewery located in East Austin.
Duties will include:
• Safe and efficient operation of brand new Wild Goose 2-head canning line and all ancillary equipment (Ska depalletizer, PL-501 labeler, Videojet date coder etc.)
• Ensure proper handling of beer from tanks to packaged cans and kegs.
• Record CO2 levels prior to canning runs
• Properly carbonate Brite Tanks and record all levels prior to canning
• Set up and tear down all equipment post-run
• Monitor and record seaming specs, maintain proper specs and SOP
• Perform and manage all preventative maintenance for all packaging equipment
• Manage packaging materials inventory and communicate when orders should be placed
• Timely communication when spare parts / misc. supplies are needed
• Effectively communicate and work directly with Head Brewer and production team for timely packaging of beer into kegs and cans to ensure no bottlenecks
• Create repeatable SOP for operating of all packaging equipment
• Inspect the quality of packaged product and assure it is fit for distribution
• Accurate and timely record keeping including but not limited to QC specs, finished goods counts, low fill counts, QC inventory, and materials waste
• Apply design thinking and implement efficient ways to package product and operate canning line
• Keep packaging area clean and organized
• Cellaring duties as needed
• Clean kegs and organize for packaging
• Transfer beer from fermenters to brite tanks
• Working in confined spaces, lifting repeatedly, moving up to 165 pounds and climbing ladders repeatedly.
• Working with dangerous chemicals while following Standard Operating Procedures and Policies
• Operating forklifts, pallet jacks and hand trucks
• Assisting Head Brewer with any potential projects or tasks
Ideal Candidate must possess:
• Mission-driven mindset towards team goals and accomplishing tasks
• Team player with a growth mindset towards learning and professional growth
• 2+ years experience operating a canning line
• Experience repairing, adjusting, swapping parts and troubleshooting canning line
• High school graduate or equivalent
• Can work effectively in an autonomous environment to accomplish tasks
• Ability to give and receive constructive feedback
• Must be at least 21 years of age
• Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Computer skills and EKOS software experience a plus
• Forklift certification a plus
