We opened in 2011 with an emphasis on crafting its beer to reflect the spirit, values, history and personality of Portland and the Northwest. Since then, we have received national attention for our beer (7 GABF medals and 4 WBC awards) and innovative marketing. Old Town’s award-winning brews can be found at our 3 pubs, as well as in the Portland metro area and in Southwest Washington retailers like New Seasons, Whole Foods, Safeway, Albertsons, and Costco and many local restaurants and bars. Responsibilities and duties include, but are not limited to the following: • Oversee and develop recipes from grain to glass. • Plan and manage the brewing, cellar, and packaging production schedule to efficiently meet demands. • Source all raw materials and maintain strong partnerships with raw material vendors. • Coordinate with Sales team to ensure inventory levels satisfy the production plan. • Lead the R&D program. • Strive for continuous improvements in beer quality, consistency, and cost. • Perform brewhouse, cellar, CIP, QC, and packaging duties. • Yeast and fermentation management. • Maintain and create SOPs as needed to ensure that all brewing, cellar, CIP, QC, and packaging processes are completed in a consistent, safe, and efficient manner. • Ensure that the brewery equipment and production area is kept clean, organized, and in good working order to meet quality, sanitation, and safety standards. • Troubleshooting and maintenance of equipment. • Oversee brewery safety protocols and compliance measures including wastewater. • Communicate with Sales, Marketing, and Tasting Room team members regarding beer style details and tasting notes. • Maintain accurate records for all activities along with completing all required monthly reports. • Attending outside sampling events and giving brewery tours as needed. • Maintaining regular and consistent attendance and punctuality. • Acting with integrity and honesty. Qualifications • Production brewery experience of 5+ years. Candidate will have experience in all areas of the brewery. • Desire for mechanical aptitude with ability to maintain and repair equipment. • Physically able to work on your feet for long hours and be able to safely lift and/or maneuver at 165 lbs. • Must be able to lift, load, unload, and move products, which requires twisting, turning, bending, and/or squatting repeatedly throughout the day • Willingness to work irregular hours and weekends as production requires. • Great attitude, willingness to be part of a team, and do what is required to meet production demands. • Ability to work with minimal supervision, pays attention to details, and stay on track with timing of deliverables. • Ability to problem solve and trouble shoot quickly. • Passionate and knowledgeable about craft beer. • Must be able to work safely and follow safety programs Education: • Formal brewing education or bachelor degree preferred but not required (Chemical Engineering, Food Science, Mechanical Engineering, etc).
