Brewmaster

Pacifica Brewery is seeking an experienced brewmaster to join the team. We are an up and coming (3+ years) brewpub/production facility with an annual production of around 900 bbls. The ideal candidate will possess leadership qualities and have experience in wort production as well as cellar work. Pacifica Brewery is a state of the art 10 bbl steam powered facility with a 2 vessel brew system including a jacketed mash / lauter tun, kettle, and 20 bbl hot liquor tank. Our cellar includes 3 x 10 bbl fermenters, 3 x 20 bbls fermenters, 2 x 20 bbl bright tanks, and 3 x 10 bbl bright tanks. We also utilize a plate and frame filter for our bright lager beers, though that is not required for this applicant. We distribute beer across the greater Bay Area and sell beer onsite at our large brew pub. The right candidate will maintain a beer program that accommodates both of these needs.

Job responsibilities include but not limited to: • Responsible for wort production on a 2 vessel 10-bbl brewhouse—including but not limited to raw material handling, milling, mash/lauter operation, wort boiling, cooling, and brewhouse CIP • Assist in cellaring of beers: CIPs, sanitizing equipment, managing fermentation schedules, yeast harvesting, dry hopping, ingredient additions • Ingredients ordering and inventory management • Ability to strictly adhere to established recipes, processes, and SOPs, while providing suggestions on improvements • Production schedule forecasting considering the needs of our pub and our distributor • Brewery equipment maintenance and basic repair • Making sure the work environment is safe and organized • Assist in lab measurements: yeast counts, DO readings, gravities, pH, diacetyl tests, etc. • Maintain detailed records of all work performed. • Brand development and management • Maintenance and management of current brands • Recipe cost tracking • Ability to work on your feet for 8 to 10 hours at a time • Ability to lift up to 55 pounds repeatedly • Ability to move full kegs weighing up to 165 pounds safely • Ability to operate a pallet jack and a straddle lift (like a pallet jack / forklift combination) safely • Draft system maintenance and repair • Staff education on the intricacies of our products and beer making process • Represent brand in a professional manner at both on- and off-site festivals and events Please send Cover Letter, Resume and inquiries to pacificabrewery@gmail.com
