About this position: The Blending Tech works in all aspects of barrel-aged and mixed-culture beer production at pFriem’s facility at Cascade Locks. This is a dynamic position that combines all aspects of cellaring to produce award winning premium beers. Seasonally the job will change to meet the demands of barrel movement, fruit harvests, and Lambic-style beer production. You will work closely with the Lead Blender to ensure all beers meet schedule and pFriem’s standard of quality.
Reports to: Head Brewer with daily supervision provided by Lead Blender
Status: FT - hourly
Schedule: Tuesday - Friday, 4x10h schedule.
Overtime may be required based on seasonal demand.
Core Job Description:
Cellaring and blending tasks:
• Beer transfers, filtrations, and carbonation.
• Bottle conditioned beer prime and dose.
• Tank CSPP.
• Barrel mining, harvesting, and filling depending on season.\
• Receive wort and beer from Halyard facility
• Wastewater: side streaming and waste treatment and data logging.
• Plant cleanliness and facility organization.
• General maintenance.
• Packaging support.
Quality control tasks:
• Tank gravities and pH. Sample collection and preparation for lab.
• Bottle conditioning tracking with selective scanner.
• CO2 and DO monitoring prior to and during packaging runs.
• Cork insertion depth measurements.
• Data entry and maintenance of all tracking logs.
Seasonal tasks:
• Fruit handling: processing, additions, removal, and disposal.
• Orchard and vineyard travel as needed to pick and receive fruit.
• Event participation at Cascade Locks.
